Garage Build Update: Insulation Passed & Wall Framing in Progress
Big progress on the garage build this week! We officially passed our insulation inspection ✅, which means the space is sealed and ready for the next phase. From here, it’s all about framing and drywall prep — the steps that turn an empty shell into a real, usable room.
This is the part of the project where things start to feel real. The studs are up, the shape of the room is defined, and before long drywall will be going in to complete the structure.
Why This Step Matters
Energy efficiency – With insulation and framing in place, the garage will stay comfortable year-round.
Durability – Proper framing sets the stage for everything that follows.
Momentum – Passing inspections and framing walls means we’re right on schedule.
What’s Next
Up next: drywall installation. That’s when the space will really start to feel finished. The plan is to push this project across the finish line by the end of September — and we’re well on track.
Stay tuned for more updates as this build keeps moving forward.
From Summer Heat to Winter Prep: Why Now’s the Time to Think Ahead
Just last week we clocked the siding at nearly 155° on our deck project wall. Summer is hanging on strong, and the sun is still pushing its limits. But here’s the truth: fall and winter are right around the corner.
When the temperatures drop, the projects shift. Right now, while the heat reminds us of summer’s intensity, it’s the perfect moment to think ahead and get your home ready for the colder months.
Why Start Prepping Now?
Avoid the Rush – Once the cold hits, everyone starts calling at once. Getting ahead means you’re ready before winter weather takes over.
Protect Your Investment – Decks, siding, and exterior paint all take a beating during wet, cold months. The prep you do now can extend the life of your home’s exterior.
Indoor Comfort – Sealing drafts, checking insulation, and tackling lingering drywall or painting projects will pay off once you’re inside more often.
Peace of Mind – Instead of scrambling when the first snow flies, you’ll already be covered.
Current Projects, Future Proofing
Deck Build – Even while the walls bake at 150°+, we’re setting up a structure that’s ready to handle snow load and freezing temps.
Garage/Patio Build – We just passed the insulation inspection 💪, another big step in making sure this space is airtight and ready for all-season use. Drywall is next up and hoping to have this build buttoned up before the weather moves in.
Interior Projects – Paint is on the walls, paint is going up soon on the custom desk, and we’re starting the fireplace stone surround 🔥 — perfect timing so homeowners can enjoy the cozy upgrade when it matters most: the colder, cozier months.
Call to Action
If you’ve been putting off winter prep, now’s the time. Whether it’s sealing up the exterior, repairing decks, finishing siding, or knocking out that “one room” inside, don’t wait until the snow flies.
👉 Reach out today and let’s get your home winter-ready. Fall is short, and spots fill up fast.
Balance vs. Hustle
Labor Day is usually a time for rest, barbecues, and celebrating the hard work that built this country. But for us, we worked. Not because we don’t value rest—but because we have big goals.
I recently watched an episode of Real AF with Andy Frisella where Andy talked about the concept of balance in business. His take hit home: in the build phase, there is no balance. You can’t expect to grow something extraordinary while also living like you already have it. Success requires hustle—sometimes for 10 years straight—before you can afford to slow down.
And that’s the truth that many people struggle with, ourselves included. There’s this constant tension: friends, family, or even our own inner voice saying, “You need more balance.” But when you’re building a business, balance doesn’t mean equal—it means priorities.
Balance in this season looks like working long hours, sacrificing weekends, and pushing through discomfort because the bigger vision demands it. Balance looks like choosing the temporary grind so that later, real freedom is possible.
We may not always get it right. We may get tired, stretched thin, and tested in ways most people won’t understand. But the commitment to hustle now creates the opportunity for balance later.
So if you’re in that same season—where every day feels like Labor Day—don’t beat yourself up for being “out of balance.” You’re not failing; you’re building.
A few takeaways to remember:
Balance isn’t a 50/50 split – it’s aligning your actions with your long-term goals.
Sacrifice is temporary – the grind builds the foundation for freedom.
Not everyone will understand – but you don’t need them to. Stay locked on your vision.
One day, the season of relentless hustle will pay off. But until then, we keep working—because balance is earned.
Steady Progress: Three Big Projects Moving Forward
Progress may not always happen overnight—but every day, every swing of the hammer, every shovel of dirt, and every brush of paint gets us closer to the finish line. Right now, we’ve got three major projects moving forward, and while it’s been steady (sometimes slow), the transformation is undeniable.
✅ Garage & Patio Build – The siding is about wrapped up and things are really starting to take shape. This build has been a big one, but watching it come together piece by piece has been worth it.
✅ Deck Replacement – The old deck is officially gone, post holes are dug, and we’re ready to start building something brand new. This one’s going to be a huge upgrade, and the prep work is laying the foundation for something awesome.
✅ Dream Secret Room – The drywall nightmare is finally behind us (and trust me, that’s a victory worth celebrating). Now we’re stepping into the fun part: homeowners are picking their perfect shade of green while we bring their vision to life with a custom fireplace and a one-of-a-kind desk. This space is about to become a hidden gem.
Here’s the truth: building something great takes time. But every day we keep pushing, every day we keep moving forward, and that’s how projects get done.
👉 And here’s the call to action: if you’re local and looking for some extra money, we’ve got at least a month’s worth of steady work. Swing a hammer, carry some boards, mix some mud—we could use the hands, and you’ll walk away with both a paycheck and the satisfaction of building something that lasts.
Progress is being made—and with the right people on board, it’ll keep moving strong.
Built for the Fight: Why You’re Stronger Than You Think
Yesterday, I was reading an email from Andy Frisella—and man, it lit a fire under me. His words were raw, direct, and powerful. The kind of truth that hits you right between the eyes and makes you take a hard look at yourself. Naturally, I had to share it with James and perhaps if you’re reading this you needed to see it too.
Because here’s the reality: life doesn’t play fair.
It’s going to hit you hard. It’s going to knock you down, bloody your nose, and test you in ways that break most people into a million pieces. But here’s the thing—you’re not most people.
You’ve already proven that.
You’re still here.
After everything you’ve faced—every storm, every setback, every sleepless night—you’re still standing. Still moving. Still going. Still pushing forward. And that alone means you’re stronger than anything that’s tried to stop you.
The truth is, you were built for this. Built for the fight.
Not everyone is. Some people crumble when the weight gets too heavy. But not you. You were built to carry more, to outlast, to outwork, and to out-bleed every obstacle in your way.
That’s not hype—it’s a fact.
Because if you look back at your life, you’ll see the proof in every scar, every lesson, every time you thought you couldn’t keep going but did anyway. You’ve already shown yourself what you’re made of.
Now it’s about remembering it.
Remember who you are.
You are not average. You are not weak. You are not defined by what’s happened to you—you are defined by the fact that you’re still standing, still swinging, still grinding.
You are a force of nature.
And yeah, it might be hard right now. Really hard. But that doesn’t mean you can’t handle it. Because the reality is, you’ve already handled worse. You’ve already walked through fire and made it out.
So what now?
You get back in the game. You fight back. You refuse to quit—because quitting was never an option.
This is the only way forward. The only way to become who you were meant to be.
You were built for this fight. And you’re not done yet.
Big Dreams, Bigger Decks: The Next Transformation Begins!
At Mr. Clean Fix, there’s nothing like the energy that comes with the start of a big project—especially one that’s about to completely transform an outdoor space. Materials are starting to arrive for our latest build, and excitement is in the air! This time, we’re taking on the challenge of replacing a 9x35 deck with a stunning 12x36 upgrade, towering 10 feet off the ground. And that’s not all—beneath the new staircase, there will be an 8x8 ground-level deck, perfect for shaded seating or a cozy hangout spot. Today, we’re getting the prep work done while we wait for more materials to roll in. It’s a warm one—96 degrees—but nothing can cool our enthusiasm for what’s ahead. The before pictures (shared here) tell part of the story. But just wait until you see the “after”—a sturdy, beautiful space for relaxing, entertaining, and making memories. Every board we replace, every measurement we make, every bolt we tighten—it’s all part of building something that will be enjoyed for years to come. That’s what keeps us inspired, no matter the weather. As they say, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” And this dream deck? It’s just getting started.
Fueled by Progress: Building Dreams One Room at a Time
At Mr. Clean Fix, we don’t just build homes—we build spaces that matter. Each project is a new opportunity to create something meaningful for our clients, and we’re incredibly proud of the transformations currently unfolding.
Since our last update, the garage build took a big step forward with electrical installation now complete. Powering up that space was a major milestone and paves the way for what comes next.
Meanwhile, the bonus room project is in full swing—and it’s shaping up to be one of our favorite custom builds yet! We’ve:
Completed all electrical work
Laid the subfloor
Are actively drywalling, texturing, and prepping to paint
But the real excitement? The custom desk build begins today. Paired with soon-to-be-installed custom fireplace and hardwood floors, this bonus room is going to be a showcase of detail and design.
We love what we do. Yes, the days are long. Yes, remodeling can be tough. But the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life keeps us energized.
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
And that’s exactly why we do it—because we love it.
Here’s to more progress, more creativity, and more happy clients ahead.
One Step at a Time: Progress, Perspective, and Pushing Forward
Some weeks it feels like we’re standing still—but when we stop and look back, the truth is we’ve moved a whole lot farther than we thought.
Since our last update, we did wrap up one big item: the new slider install is complete and looks great. That fresh opening to the outside world is a solid reminder of what progress looks like—sometimes subtle, but always meaningful. It may not have been the biggest project on our list, but it was a win, and we’ll take those all day long.
We also officially kicked off another job, even while continuing to push forward on the garage and patio build. That’s the thing with this work—sometimes you’re juggling multiple moving pieces, doing your best to show up, stay present, and keep the momentum going.
James just took his son back home, which always brings a shift. It’s quiet now. A little heavier. After a meaningful visit, and like many parents juggling life and work, he’s adjusting. The work doesn’t pause for transitions, but we keep pressing on. That’s the heart of what we do — keep pushing, even when things are shifting. Getting back into the groove can be tough—but we’re still here, still showing up, still building.
Progress isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it's dusty boots, fast food dinners, and long drives between job sites. Sometimes it's unfinished to-do lists and half-installed beams. But other times? It’s the realization that you’re still in it, still giving your all, and still climbing toward something worthwhile.
This season is hard. It’s also full of purpose. We're not coasting — we're building. And each day we show up, we inch closer to the kind of life and business we’re proud of.
In the middle of long projects, it’s easy to forget that daily effort is where the transformation happens. Mindset matters most when the job isn’t done yet. And we’re choosing to keep that mindset strong.
Whether it’s late nights, heavy lifting, or just staying focused when you’re tired, the grind continues—but so does the growth. We’re getting there. One day, one cut, one nail at a time. The finish lines will come. For now, we're proud of the middle.
In the Thick of It: Mindset and Momentum When You’re Building Through Burnout
Let’s be real—some days feel like you’re crushing it. Other days? It feels like the work is crushing you.
Running a remodeling company means early mornings, late nights, weather delays, broken tools, supply chain hiccups, and surprise client curveballs. When you’re in the thick of it, mindset isn’t a trendy buzzword—it’s your survival gear.
The Reality of the Grind
We’re currently juggling multiple projects—a garage/patio build, new slider install, material delays, and that never-ending to-do list. It’s easy to feel like you’re barely keeping up, especially when your phone won’t stop ringing and you’re still trying to grab a quick bite between job sites.
Burnout starts creeping in—not because you’re weak, but because you care. You care about the outcome. You care about your clients. You care about getting it right.
But Here’s the Truth: Motion Creates Emotion
When you’re physically exhausted, it’s not about forcing positivity. It’s about finding purpose in the process. You don’t need to feel 100% every day—you just need to keep showing up.
Every cut, every nail, every coat of paint—each one is building more than a house. It’s building your reputation. It’s building trust. It’s building something that didn’t exist yesterday.
You don’t need to sprint—you just need to walk forward.
How to Protect Your Mindset When You’re Maxed Out
Simplify where you can.
Delegate. Automate. Say no when you need to. Not every fire is yours to put out.Celebrate small wins.
Did you hit a milestone? Finish a phase? Avoid a mistake? Good. Take 30 seconds and let yourself feel it.Stay present.
Don’t get lost in “what’s next.” Focus on what’s right now. Measure twice. Breathe deep. Do the job in front of you.Lean on your why.
You started this business for a reason. For your family. For your freedom. For the pride of doing something real. Remind yourself of that when the weight feels heavy.
You’re Not Alone in the Hard Seasons
We’re not here to pretend the work isn’t hard. It is. But that’s exactly what makes it worth doing. Everyone loves the after photo—but we live in the during.
The pressure, the sweat, the long hours—that’s where the real magic is made.
So if you’re in the thick of it right now, keep swinging. Keep showing up. Keep putting one boot in front of the other.
The work you’re doing matters. And you’re not done yet.
Building Momentum – One Project at a Time
At Mr. Clean Fix, we believe progress is more than just a visual transformation—it’s a mindset. And this week, that mindset was on full display as we tackled two different jobs, both at key turning points in their journey from concept to completion.
In the first project, we're continuing our work on a garage and patio build. The framing is up, the structure is taking shape, and you can already begin to see how this addition will enhance the home's functionality and curb appeal. Every day brings a new milestone, from sheeting to structure—and it’s a great reminder that even the biggest projects are built one board, one nail, one hot summer morning at a time.
Just up north in Spirit Lake, we’ve been making major progress on an exterior wall remodel, where we’re adding a slider to create more natural light, better flow, and greater access to the outdoors. Yesterday, the wall was opened up, framed in, and we’re well on our way to giving this space a brand-new feel. It’s always exciting to watch something as simple as a doorway completely change how a room lives and breathes.
Both of these jobs are at that satisfying “it’s coming together” stage—and they’re a great reminder that progress rarely happens overnight. Whether you're building from scratch or modifying what's already there, every step forward adds up to something bigger.
Here’s to progress, patience, and the payoff that comes with consistent, quality work.
Beat the Heat, Build the Dream: Starting at 6:30am on a 97° Day
Summer in North Idaho is no joke — and today, July 8th, is proof. With a forecasted high of 97°, we knew we had to hit the ground running. Our crew was on-site by 6:30am, climbing up to sheet a garage roof before the sun really cranked things up. Working under that kind of heat takes strategy, stamina, and a whole lot of water breaks.
We’re in one of those seasons where the to-do list is long, the jobs keep stacking up, and every day is full throttle. And while that might sound exhausting (it is sometimes), the truth is — we’re grateful.
Grateful to be this busy.
Grateful to work with incredible customers who trust us with their homes.
Grateful for a hardworking team that shows up early and gives it their all.
Grateful to build something meaningful, one project at a time.
Running a small business isn’t always glamorous — especially when it’s nearly 100° and you're racing the sun to beat the heat. But moments like today remind us why we do this: because it’s worth it. Every early morning, every hot rooftop, every detail matters — and they all add up to something bigger.
Thank you to our clients, our crew, and everyone cheering us on. We're staying cool (as best we can) and staying grateful — all summer long.

Before & After Magic: The Rewarding Transformation of a Full Home Remodel
There’s something undeniably powerful about a great “before and after.” The journey from outdated to upgraded, from worn out to fresh and functional—it’s one of the most satisfying parts of what we do at Mr. Clean Fix LLC.
We just wrapped up a full remodel project that included the kitchen, guest bathroom, and master bath. The home had solid bones, but it needed a facelift. The cabinets were tired oak, the fixtures outdated, and the color palette was stuck in another decade. But take a look at what a little vision and a lot of effort can do!
✅ We painted the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry in a gorgeous, earthy green—on-trend and timeless.
✅ Installed all new lighting and plumbing fixtures with matte black finishes for a bold modern contrast.
✅ Swapped out appliances and hardware to bring both style and function into the 21st century.
✅ Laid down fresh, light-toned flooring to brighten up every space.
Seeing the final results—the clean lines, refreshed color palette, and elevated design—reminds us why we love this work. It’s not just about construction; it’s about creating spaces that feel like home again.
We’ve included a few of our favorite before and after photos here. Swipe to see the difference a remodel can make! And if you’re dreaming of a transformation of your own, we’d love to help you bring it to life.
Chasing Growth & Guarding Time: The Balance Behind Small Business Life
When we started Mr Clean Fix, the goal wasn’t just to build a business—it was to build a life.
A life with more flexibility.
A life where family time wasn’t squeezed into leftover hours.
A life where we could choose the work we do and the time we take off.
As James’ son comes to town this week to spend the summer, it’s the perfect reminder of why we chose the small business path to begin with. Yes, we’re growing. Yes, the jobs keep coming. But so much of this grind only matters if we don’t forget to enjoy the people and moments right in front of us.
We’ve been going hard—renovations, design work, blog posts, estimates, and new clients coming in weekly. And we love that. But we also know it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget the reason we wanted this life in the first place: freedom.
So here’s a gentle reminder for all of us—whether you run your own business or you’re just trying to juggle the pace of modern life:
Growth is important. But so is rest.
Progress matters. But so does presence.
Building a business is a big dream—but raising your kids, enjoying a summer evening, or just having coffee on the porch is a dream too.
That’s why moving forward, we’ll be focusing on one blog post each week—every Tuesday—to bring intentionality back into our routine. It’s not about doing less—it’s about doing the right things at the right time, with space to breathe.
So as we gear up for a summer full of projects, we’re also making space for laughter, family BBQs, and unhurried days with the people we love.
Thanks for being part of this journey. Growth is the goal—but balance is the lifestyle.
Green Is In: Why This Bold, Natural Hue is the Star of 2025
Color can transform a space—and this year, green is having its moment.
At Mr Clean Fix, we’ve seen a surge in requests for bold, earthy greens that bring personality and calm into the home. Whether it’s a pop of color or a full-blown statement, green is proving to be the color of choice for 2025.
Take a look at a few of our recent projects:
We just wrapped up a kitchen and bathroom where green cabinetry turned everyday spaces into something fresh and timeless. The deep green pairs beautifully with granite countertops, matte black fixtures, and light-colored flooring, creating a natural yet upscale feel.
And it’s not just cabinets. We’re currently painting green shutters to match the trim on a recent exterior project—giving it a cohesive and curb-friendly finish.
Even more exciting? Another client is leaning into the green trend, too. They’re planning a 10-foot custom-built desk with shelves and drawers, all in green—plus green for the surrounding walls. It’s going to be a stunning workspace that feels both inspiring and grounded.
Why Are So Many Choosing Green?
Because green is:
🌿 Naturally calming – Ties in beautifully with wood, stone, and light finishes.
💡 Creative and energizing – Especially in workspaces, green promotes focus and reduces stress.
🎨 Design-flexible – Looks amazing in modern, rustic, farmhouse, or traditional spaces.
At Mr Clean Fix, we’re loving the way this trend gives homes a fresh, creative edge without sacrificing warmth or comfort. Whether you're thinking about green cabinets, a green accent wall, or custom green furniture, we can help bring the vision to life.
Progress Takes Time: Why the Small Steps in Remodeling Matter
When you scroll through Pinterest-perfect kitchens or magazine-worthy remodels, it’s easy to forget the process behind the polish. The truth is, home remodeling is rarely instant — but it’s always worth it.
Take this kitchen we're currently transforming for a client. At first glance, it might just look like a space in mid-chaos: tools on the counter, paint lines in progress, cabinet doors off their hinges. But every little detail in this photo tells a story of momentum — the kind that builds quietly with each task completed.
Remodeling Is a Marathon, Not a Sprint
Behind every “after” shot is a series of carefully planned and executed steps:
Measuring and leveling.
Priming and painting.
Installing hardware, replacing trim, testing lighting layouts.
These steps aren’t glamorous — but they’re essential. Each one lays the foundation for the next, and skipping them would compromise the final result.
Why the Middle Matters
In this project, the flooring has been replaced, repainted cabinetry in a bold and beautiful green, and prepped for custom touches throughout. It’s not finished yet — but it’s on its way. And that’s the magic of remodeling: you get to witness the evolution of a space becoming something truly special.
Trust the Process
Whether you're painting a single room or gutting an entire kitchen, trust the small wins. The progress you can’t always see — like better durability, tighter corners, or straighter seams — makes all the difference in the finished product.
So if you’re in the middle of a remodel and starting to feel impatient, remember this: progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like painter’s tape, cabinet screws, and sawdust. But in the end, it turns into something beautiful.
Evenings Are Made for Gazebos: Why Now’s the Time to Add One
There’s something magical about summer evenings in North Idaho — the golden light, the scent of pine in the air, and the warmth that lingers long after sunset. It’s the perfect time to enjoy your backyard. And what better way to do that than from the shade and comfort of your very own gazebo?
At Mr. Clean Fix, we’ve been installing more gazebos than ever lately — and for good reason. These backyard beauties add function, style, and a whole new level of livability to your outdoor space.
Why Homeowners Love Gazebos
Gazebos aren’t just about looks — they offer serious everyday value:
🛋️ Comfortable outdoor living – Shielded from sun and light rain, you can enjoy your deck or patio no matter the weather.
🦟 Built-in protection – Many models, like the one we’re building soon, come with mosquito netting and curtains for pest-free relaxation.
🧑🍳 Perfect for entertaining – Whether it’s a BBQ, birthday, or evening glass of wine, gazebos provide a natural gathering space.
💡 Add lighting, fans, and decor – Turn your gazebo into an extension of your home, with string lights, ceiling fans, and cozy furniture.
One We’re Excited to Build 🔨
We’re about to install the Kozyard Apollo 12x16 hardtop gazebo for a client — a wood-look aluminum frame with a galvanized steel roof and full mosquito netting. It’s a serious upgrade in both durability and design. This model provides shade, airflow, and year-round usability — plus, it just looks amazing.
Thinking About Adding One?
If you’ve been dreaming of turning your backyard into a summer sanctuary, now’s the time. We’ll handle the entire install process, including anchoring and any needed prep work. All you have to do is pick the spot, pick your furniture, and start enjoying it.
Let’s make your outdoor space the place to be this summer.
The Hidden Surprises of Home Remodeling: What Lurks Beneath
Remodeling a home is an exciting journey. Fresh paint, new flooring, upgraded fixtures—it’s a transformation that breathes life into a space. But sometimes, what lies beneath those old finishes can bring unexpected challenges. At Mr. Clean Fix, we know that behind every wall or under every floorboard could be a surprise waiting to be discovered.
The Guest Bath Surprise: A Real-Life Example
During a recent project, we were hired to handle painting and a few other upgrades in a client’s home. Everything was running smoothly—until the flooring crew arrived and lifted up the old materials in the guest bathroom. What they uncovered was enough to stop the job in its tracks: mold and significant wood rot beneath the subfloor.
Instead of passing the problem back to the homeowner or delaying the project, they turned to us. Could we help? Absolutely.
Why These Issues Happen
Water damage and mold are some of the most common hidden problems uncovered during remodeling. Bathrooms, in particular, are high-moisture areas, and over time, even a small leak can cause serious structural issues:
Undetected Leaks behind toilets, sinks, or showers
Improper Ventilation leading to excess humidity
Failed Seals or Caulking allowing water to seep into subfloors and walls
These issues often go unnoticed until demolition begins—and by then, the damage is done.
Going the Extra Mile
In this case, time was of the essence. The flooring company couldn't move forward until the subfloor was repaired and the mold removed. Our team rolled up their sleeves and worked late into the evening to tear out the damaged material, treat the mold, and replace the rotted wood. We got it done quickly and correctly, allowing the flooring installers to continue their work the next day.
Why It Matters
Homeowners often budget and plan for surface-level changes. But what really makes a remodel successful is how you handle the unexpected. At Mr. Clean Fix, we pride ourselves not just on craftsmanship—but on adaptability, professionalism, and keeping the project moving forward, no matter what surprises arise.
Be Prepared for the Unexpected
If you're considering a remodel, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Budget for contingencies—a little extra padding can go a long way.
Hire a contractor who can adapt—when surprises come up, you need a team that can pivot quickly and safely.
Trust the process—some setbacks are actually opportunities to fix long-ignored issues and ensure your home is safer and more durable.
Remodeling might come with a few bumps in the road, but with the right team on your side, you can navigate any surprise with confidence.
