Monday Musings: Seahawks Champions, Gray Skies & Valentine’s Around the Corner

Monday mornings usually roll in quietly — but not this one.

After the Seattle Seahawks claimed their Super Bowl victory on Sunday, the excitement didn’t stay in Seattle. Even here at home, fireworks lit up the sky, proving once again that Seahawks pride runs deep across the Northwest. The game itself delivered exactly what fans hoped for: a dominant defensive showing, a strong ground game, and a statement win that reminded everyone why Seattle football hits different.

By the time the celebration settled down, reality checked back in — because winter isn’t done with us yet.

This Monday is coming in gray and rainy, with forecasts hinting at possible snow later this week. It’s that familiar stretch of late winter where the weather can’t quite decide what it wants to do, and homeowners start noticing every draft, drip, and creak a little more than usual.

Honestly? It’s not the worst thing.

Rainy days and colder nights have a way of slowing things down. Homes feel cozier, coffee tastes better, and it’s a perfect time to take stock of the spaces we live in — what’s working, what’s not, and what could use a little attention before spring finally shows up.

And speaking of timing, Valentine’s Day lands this Saturday. If the weather doesn’t cooperate (shocking, we know), it’s the perfect excuse to skip the crowds and lean into simple plans: cooking at home, movie nights, or just enjoying a warm, comfortable space together while winter does its thing outside.

Monday Mindset

A Seahawks Super Bowl win, fireworks in the neighborhood, rain on the windows, and snow possibly on the way — it’s a reminder that even in the middle of winter, there’s plenty to celebrate. Big wins, small comforts, and homes that keep us warm through it all.

Here’s to starting the week on a high note — rain or shine.

A Room You’d Never Expect: The 6-Month Transformation of the Secret Room

Some of the most meaningful spaces in a home aren’t visible at first glance.

This one is hidden—accessed through a concealed door in the master walk-in closet, leading to a private room tucked above the garage. What began as an unfinished, poorly executed DIY space slowly became one of the most intentional and thoughtfully crafted rooms we’ve ever worked on.

This transformation took six months, deep problem-solving, and over 100 hours of custom woodworking alone—and the result speaks for itself.

The Beginning: A Hidden Room That Never Reached Its Potential

Behind the closet door was a room that felt forgotten.

The drywall had been installed by a previous owner, but nothing about it was right—uneven seams, incorrect fastening, inconsistent framing, and surfaces that would never finish cleanly without intervention. The flooring was temporary. The window was outdated. Electrical was minimal. The space had no real identity or function.

Before this room could become something special, it had to be corrected, stabilized, and reimagined from the inside out.

Fixing What Was Done Wrong

This project wasn’t about covering flaws—it was about addressing them properly.

Work included:

  • Correcting improperly installed drywall and uneven surfaces

  • Adjusting framing where needed

  • Installing proper outlets and a new light fixture

  • Adding a new window, which required new exterior siding and repainting the outside of the garage

Every step was handled carefully to ensure the finished space wouldn’t just look good—but would last.

The Showpiece: A Fully Custom Desk Built Into the Room Itself

The heart of this hidden room is the 100% custom desk and built-in shelving, designed specifically for this space and nowhere else.

There are no filler panels, no standard sizing, and no prefab shortcuts. The desk was built to exactly match the walls, becoming part of the architecture rather than something placed inside it.

This portion of the project alone represents over 100 hours of craftsmanship, and it truly highlights Dave’s custom woodworking abilities—from layout and proportion to flawless execution.

This isn’t furniture.
It’s functional architecture.

Stone by Stone: A Fireplace Built to Belong

Adding warmth and character, the custom stone fireplace was built one stone at a time.

Each piece was carefully selected and placed to create a natural, grounded focal point—something that makes the room feel finished, inviting, and intentional. It transformed the space from “hidden” to special.

Details That Quietly Matter

As the room came together, the finishing touches elevated everything:

  • Hardwood flooring to bring warmth and continuity

  • Clean, intentional trim throughout

  • A custom wood casing built to conceal the gas pipe running the length of the room

  • A custom-built step, designed specifically for this space

  • Thoughtful electrical placement and lighting

Nothing was rushed. Every detail had a reason.

The Result: A Secret Worth Keeping

Six months later, the transformation is complete—and the homeowners love it.

What was once an awkward, unfinished room above the garage is now a refined, functional retreat—quietly hidden behind a closet door, yet fully finished in every sense of the word.

This project is a reminder that some spaces don’t need to be obvious to be valuable.

Why This Project Matters to Us

This build perfectly represents what happens when:

  • Time is respected

  • Craftsmanship leads the process

  • Custom work is done without compromise

It also stands as a clear example of Dave’s woodworking talent, patience, and attention to detail.

Some rooms are built fast.
Some rooms are built right.

This one was worth the wait.

Patio & Garage Project: One Year Later, Hard Work Pays Off!

After nearly a year of dedication, patience, and perseverance, we’re thrilled to share that this beautiful patio and garage project has officially passed its final inspection and is complete! 🎉

This one meant a little more to us. What started as a shared vision turned into a journey of resilience and determination. We faced challenges along the way that would have stopped many, but we never lost sight of the goal. Together, we worked through every delay, every adjustment, and every new step until this home became exactly what was envisioned.

The result? A stunning garage that perfectly complements the home’s design—with a deep blue exterior, crisp white trim, and a clean, seamless concrete finish. The covered patio adds a warm, welcoming touch, creating the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful North Idaho surroundings.

We’re proud of this one not just because it turned out beautifully, but because of what it represents: strength, patience, and partnership. Every build tells a story—and this one is about seeing things through, even when the road gets rough.

A huge thank-you to our amazing client for trusting us through it all, and to our crew for their hard work and commitment to finishing strong.

Here’s to new beginnings, finished projects, and the satisfaction of seeing it all come together. 💙🏡

🕒 Aggressive Patience: Building, Waiting, and Winning with Time

If there’s one thing this week reminded us of, it’s this — real progress doesn’t always make noise.

We’ve been deep in those quiet grind stages on a few jobs:

The garage/patio is fully painted, the new door’s installed, and we’re waiting on final inspection.

In the secret room, the corners and ceiling got a clean refresh, and we’re swapping in a new window that actually opens.

The deck keeps stretching out beautifully — just waiting on the next load of boards to arrive.

From the outside, it might look like we’ve hit pause. But this is where the work really happens.

As Andy Frisella said this week:

“Time will either expose you or reward you. It all depends on how you spend it.”

That perspective fits perfectly. Because remodeling — like business, like life — is all about aggressive patience.

You give everything you’ve got today, even when there’s nothing flashy to show for it yet.
You keep pushing through the waiting, the deliveries, the weather, the details.
And when it all comes together, the result speaks louder than words ever could.

So if your own project — or your goals — feel like they’re inching forward right now, don’t lose heart.
You’re not stuck; you’re stacking progress that’s about to break through.

Time isn’t your enemy. It’s just a mirror — reflecting what you do with it.

Garage Build Update: Insulation Passed & Wall Framing in Progress

Big progress on the garage build this week! We officially passed our insulation inspection ✅, which means the space is sealed and ready for the next phase. From here, it’s all about framing and drywall prep — the steps that turn an empty shell into a real, usable room.

This is the part of the project where things start to feel real. The studs are up, the shape of the room is defined, and before long drywall will be going in to complete the structure.

Why This Step Matters

  • Energy efficiency – With insulation and framing in place, the garage will stay comfortable year-round.

  • Durability – Proper framing sets the stage for everything that follows.

  • Momentum – Passing inspections and framing walls means we’re right on schedule.

What’s Next

Up next: drywall installation. That’s when the space will really start to feel finished. The plan is to push this project across the finish line by the end of September — and we’re well on track.

Stay tuned for more updates as this build keeps moving forward.

Steady Progress: Three Big Projects Moving Forward

Progress may not always happen overnight—but every day, every swing of the hammer, every shovel of dirt, and every brush of paint gets us closer to the finish line. Right now, we’ve got three major projects moving forward, and while it’s been steady (sometimes slow), the transformation is undeniable.

Garage & Patio Build – The siding is about wrapped up and things are really starting to take shape. This build has been a big one, but watching it come together piece by piece has been worth it.

Deck Replacement – The old deck is officially gone, post holes are dug, and we’re ready to start building something brand new. This one’s going to be a huge upgrade, and the prep work is laying the foundation for something awesome.

Dream Secret Room – The drywall nightmare is finally behind us (and trust me, that’s a victory worth celebrating). Now we’re stepping into the fun part: homeowners are picking their perfect shade of green while we bring their vision to life with a custom fireplace and a one-of-a-kind desk. This space is about to become a hidden gem.

Here’s the truth: building something great takes time. But every day we keep pushing, every day we keep moving forward, and that’s how projects get done.

👉 And here’s the call to action: if you’re local and looking for some extra money, we’ve got at least a month’s worth of steady work. Swing a hammer, carry some boards, mix some mud—we could use the hands, and you’ll walk away with both a paycheck and the satisfaction of building something that lasts.

Progress is being made—and with the right people on board, it’ll keep moving strong.

Big Dreams, Bigger Decks: The Next Transformation Begins!

At Mr. Clean Fix, there’s nothing like the energy that comes with the start of a big project—especially one that’s about to completely transform an outdoor space. Materials are starting to arrive for our latest build, and excitement is in the air! This time, we’re taking on the challenge of replacing a 9x35 deck with a stunning 12x36 upgrade, towering 10 feet off the ground. And that’s not all—beneath the new staircase, there will be an 8x8 ground-level deck, perfect for shaded seating or a cozy hangout spot. Today, we’re getting the prep work done while we wait for more materials to roll in. It’s a warm one—96 degrees—but nothing can cool our enthusiasm for what’s ahead. The before pictures (shared here) tell part of the story. But just wait until you see the “after”—a sturdy, beautiful space for relaxing, entertaining, and making memories. Every board we replace, every measurement we make, every bolt we tighten—it’s all part of building something that will be enjoyed for years to come. That’s what keeps us inspired, no matter the weather. As they say, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” And this dream deck? It’s just getting started.
