Chasing Growth & Guarding Time: The Balance Behind Small Business Life

When we started Mr Clean Fix, the goal wasn’t just to build a business—it was to build a life.

A life with more flexibility.
A life where family time wasn’t squeezed into leftover hours.
A life where we could choose the work we do and the time we take off.

As James’ son comes to town this week to spend the summer, it’s the perfect reminder of why we chose the small business path to begin with. Yes, we’re growing. Yes, the jobs keep coming. But so much of this grind only matters if we don’t forget to enjoy the people and moments right in front of us.

We’ve been going hard—renovations, design work, blog posts, estimates, and new clients coming in weekly. And we love that. But we also know it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget the reason we wanted this life in the first place: freedom.

So here’s a gentle reminder for all of us—whether you run your own business or you’re just trying to juggle the pace of modern life:

Growth is important. But so is rest.
Progress matters. But so does presence.
Building a business is a big dream—but raising your kids, enjoying a summer evening, or just having coffee on the porch is a dream too.

That’s why moving forward, we’ll be focusing on one blog post each week—every Tuesday—to bring intentionality back into our routine. It’s not about doing less—it’s about doing the right things at the right time, with space to breathe.

So as we gear up for a summer full of projects, we’re also making space for laughter, family BBQs, and unhurried days with the people we love.

Thanks for being part of this journey. Growth is the goal—but balance is the lifestyle.

We’re Growing! Mr. Clean Fix Is Hiring Skilled Part-Time Subcontractors This Summer

Business is booming at Mr. Clean Fix LLC, and we're grateful to our amazing clients for trusting us with their home renovation dreams. From full kitchen remodels to deck makeovers, we've been staying busy—and that means it's time to grow our crew!

Who We're Looking For:

We're currently seeking 1–2 part-time subcontractors to join our team this summer (with potential for long-term work). Ideal candidates are handyman-type professionals who bring a wide range of skills to the table—think of someone who’s comfortable switching between:

  • Light carpentry (indoors and out)

  • Drywall patching and painting

  • Flooring installation

  • Fixture installs

  • General troubleshooting and small repairs

  • Exterior painting and prep

  • Deck work and staining

  • Fence repairs or installation support

  • Basic exterior maintenance (or interior)

We work on a variety of projects, both inside and outside the home, so versatility is key. If you're someone who can pivot between tasks with a good attitude and solid craftsmanship, you're who we're looking for. If you’re experienced in one or two specific areas but a quick learner, we’d still love to talk.

Why Work With Mr. Clean Fix?

  • Flexible hours – We’re looking for part-time help that fits your schedule.

  • Diverse projects – No two jobs are the same, and that keeps things interesting.

  • Great clients – We work in homes that value quality and professionalism.

  • A trusted name – We’ve built a solid reputation in North Idaho and beyond.

This isn’t just about swinging a hammer—it’s about taking pride in a job well done, being reliable, and working with a team that treats clients (and each other) with respect.

What We Expect:

  • Your own basic tools and transportation

  • Solid communication skills

  • A sharp eye for detail and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to follow scope of work and occasionally work solo

  • Bonus if you’re licensed/insured, but not required for all tasks

If you’re a semi-retired tradesman, a part-time pro, or just looking to pick up some extra hours this summer, this could be the perfect fit.
